Blogging Days...

I was thinking to myself, not yesterday, but they day before that, so it almost counts, but anyway, I was in the middle of an Unusual Occurrence, and thinking, "This is going on my blog!" and then I remembered.. I don't blog anymore. Not to say that I don't have one, but it always looks messy and very anti inspirational in general. I decided what I needed was a fresh start. So here I am, starting anew, afresh, again, once more - well, I'm sure you get the picture. So then, on to the adventure!

The musical, WICKED was in town, and as I am rather fond of it, we decided to go and see it. Because she also is very fond of it, we took Graham's sister with us. It was a bit of a drive being about two hours away, but it was a nice drive. The sky was overcast and it was cold, but we had a pleasant time. Graham had allowed plenty of extra time for the trip, knowing that sometimes we just don't get out the door as soon as we might would like. So, anyway, we got there about a hour before showtime, and then decided we would drive around and find something to eat. We eventually found a Taco Bell, after a demonstration of mad driving skills. *ahem* Mad in the best possble way, of course.

We made our way back to the theatre and found a parking garage and wound up and up and up and up until at least we broke free of the constraints and roofing and found ourselves on the very top out under the sky. It was very windy and quite cold, but we paused for a few pictures with the theatre in the background.

The inside of the theatre was amazing and lovely. I was quite impressed by how nice it was. We found our seats, and I was interested to discovered the view from them. The stage is in the center of one end of the building as you would expect, and we were on the side, right next to the stage, 4 stories up. It was quite the experience, but it was also amazing.

And thus passed the first act.

For those of you familiar with the play, the second act begins with Elphaba in a room by herself singing, "No Good Deed". The song had scarcely started when the smoke alarm went off. She didn't break stride, but kept singing. The ushers opened the doors and people started streaming out quickly, but we kept our seat. Finally, they cut into her song to make an annoucement that they were evacuating the building. So up we got and trouped outside, where it was snowing and the wind was blowing. A few minutes later the firetrucks arrived and several firemen went inside, and about 5 minutes after that they let everyone back in. I never knew stage smoke could cause such a fuss.

We went back in and decided to take the elevator back up. I didn't really want to. I don't like elevators that much as a rule, and there had just been a fire alarm going off in my ear, even though I knew it was from stage smoke. But we went up in it anyway, and I thought it was being really shaky. Then we got to the 4th floor and instead of opening the doors it started shaking and felt like it was starting to go down. I was getting ready to pass out when the door finally opened. Needless to say, we took the stairs down when we left.

A great many people decided to call it a day when the fire alarm went off and most of the upper balcony was empty. The first row, however, were all present and accounted for, and being mostly comprised of teenage girls, they started a wave, which went across the room, was sent back, at which point it made it's way to us. This continued until the curtain went up, when the room exploded into enthusiastic applause. The rest of the show went on smoothly and wonderfully, to much applause when all was done.

And then for one final adventure, we went home.

Which might not seem so adventurous at first glance.

But I can assure you.

It was.

It was snowing like crazy, the roads were terrible, people were stuck in the middle of the road, it was a mess. And in this mess of snow and wind and slush, we made our way home.

And now that I come to think of it, I'm not really sure what my title has to do with my post, except perhaps to point out that my blogging days, apparently, are not over.
